Health Protection (Coronavirus, Restrictions) (England) Regulations 2020

Amendments to the Health Protection (Coronavirus, Restrictions) (England) Regulations 2020, made by the Health Protection (Coronavirus, Restrictions) (England) (Amendment) (No. 2) Regulations 2020 came into force on 13th May 2020.

This SI amends regulation 5 to permit a person responsible for carrying on a business consisting of the provision of holiday accommodation to continue to do so for any person who works in one of the critical sectors, and who needs that accommodation in connection to their work.

It includes amendments to the reasonable excuses listed in regulation 6 in relation to the collection of goods ordered from a permitted business, the taking of exercise (now permitting a person to also do this with one member of another household), visiting public open space (alone, with members of their household or one member of another household), the provision of voluntary or charitable services, activities in connection with the purchase, sale, letting or rental of residential property and the use of a waste or recycling centre.

Regulation 10 is amended to increase the fines which may be imposed by fixed penalty notice. Garden centres and outdoor sports courts have been added to the list of businesses in Schedule 2 which may remain open.
