Amendments to the Health Protection (Coronavirus, Restrictions) (England) Regulations 2020

23 April 2020

Please note the amendments to the Health Protection (Coronavirus, Restrictions) (England) Regulations 2020, above, made by the Health Protection (Coronavirus, Restrictions) (England) (Amendment) Regulations 2020, which came in force at 11am on 22nd April 2020.

This SI includes amendments to the reasonable excuses listed in regulation 6 (in relation to burial grounds and obtaining money) and is amended to clarify that under regulation 6(1), the prohibition applies both to leaving the place where a person is living without reasonable excuse, and also to staying outside that place without reasonable excuse.

It makes amendments to regulation 8 in relation to the use of force to remove a person in a gathering to the place where they live and in relation to individuals accompanied by children at gatherings (see new paragraphs (10) to (10C)); and it also amends regulation 10 to state that fixed penalties can be issued to people 18 years of age or over (it previous referred to people over the age of 18).

Please see SI 2020/447 for full details of the amendments.
