Coronavirus (Retention of Fingerprints and DNA Profiles in the Interests of National Security) Regulations 2020

The Coronavirus (Retention of Fingerprints and DNA Profiles in the Interests of National Security) Regulations 2020 provide an extension of the time limits that apply to the retention of certain fingerprints or DNA profiles. The Regulations apply in respect of fingerprints or DNA profiles that are retained under certain counter-terrorism provisions, or that may otherwise be relevant to the interests of national security.

The Motor Vehicles (Tests) (Amendment) (Coronavirus) Regulations 2020 came in force on 31st March 2020.

In anticipation of potential disruption to the vehicle testing regime caused by the spread of Coronavirus, the new Regulations amend Regulation 6 of the 1981 Regulations to exclude vehicles from the test certificate requirement for a one-off period of six months. This period begins on the day when the use of a vehicle on a road without a test certificate would have been ordinarily prohibited.
